| The Anna Jarvis Memorial Bust was dedicated on November 9, 2001, at the WV State Capitol Rotunda. Miss Jarvis is the founder of Mother's Day, she is from Webster, Taylor County, West Virginia. Grafton's
Mother's Day Shrine was the location of the first Mother's Day Service. The Anna Jarvis House Museum, in Webster, WV is a beautifully restored tribute to this great WV woman. Thunder on the Tygart Foundation sponsored the
memorial bust, and are continuing efforts to fund the memorial. They can be reached at 304-265-5549. The sculpture is now in the state's
permanent collection. Anna Jarvis is the first woman memorialized in the WV Capitol. She holds a place of honor in the building that she helped dedicate in the 1930's. It is exciting to be part of this
historical event, Lorna is from Taylor County, like Anna, and it is equally impressive in the state's history that a woman sculptor creates this portrait of such a great lady.
